It works well, have not had any problems opening it with the reader. keypad, using it as a bed side gun safe and its a bit small, I hope when I am in a hurry i can remove my pistol with out issue. hope I never have to find out. I would recommend they add a spring to pop the door open to make access quicker, other then that like it. Nice safe, solidly built, i recommend. I will likely get another in the future.

My mini Biometric safe is awesome! I love the fingerprint feature and it works like a charm. It only didn’t work once for me but if you follow the directions and put your finger in multiple positions when ‘saving’ them in the system, it will work very well. It also has a full key pad and a key back up. I absolutely love this safe. Perfect for a bedside firearm and/or extra cash/valuables. It has a shelf inside so there is plenty of space. It also has wall mount pre-drilled holes. I would recommend this for anyone!

I am in law enforcement, and this in my opinion, is a wonderful safe. Keeps firearms (or anything) very secure. Gives you very quick access with one fingerprint. You of course could use the keypad instead. It has a battery life indicator, so no more guessing if it’s going to open. Interior light, as well as two carpeted shelves are nice features. Fits excellent under a nightstand/shelf. Questions made directly to manufacture company were answered promptly and professionally.

I did a lot of research to try to get the best safe of this size at a reasonable price. Since it seems a lot of reviewers are compensated these days I will say definitively that I did NOT receive a discount or a free product for my review. I ordered it at the list price just like anyone else to store some “machined steel parts” that I’d prefer my kids didn’t access without supervision.1) This safe has a motorized actuator to retract the deadbolts rather than a knob that the user must twist. This obviously reduces the number of steps to open but more importantly limits vulnerability to “safe bumping” (look it up on YouTube) which many similar safes are vulnerable to. Since the person trying to bump can’t load up the knob while bumping it that makes it impossible to bump, at least in the “traditional” manner. It’s fast too. Should the mechanism fail the key can be used to retract the deadbolts manually.2) The key mechanism seems very secure. It’s a bit hard to get in (It only goes in one way even though it looks symmetrical) and you have to remove a plate to access the key hole but it’s really just for access in a dead battery condition. It seems like it would be very difficult to defeat.3) The reset button is well protected on the interior. Other similar safes have had vulnerabilities where a small hole could be popped in the plastic keypad then a wire could be used to fish around and press the interior reset button, restoring the default codes. This one would require drilling through metal to do this.It’s not an impenetrable fortress obviously, but it’s a very good strong box with quick auto-pilot access.The biometric scanner is quite good. Not up there with TouchID on an iOS device but close. At first I only enrolled each finger once. This worked well but maybe 5-10% of the time I’d get “err” on a registered finger. I opted to go back and enroll a single finger on each hand 5x each. It’s near 100% reliable now. On the screen sometimes it will recognize the same finger as one of the other ID#s that it was enrolled as rather than erroring out.Only one minor gripe about the beeper/documentation. It’s not loud but it’s a bit loud for certain applications. I wanted to turn it off so I consulted the documentation. It stated to press “0 & (*)” which I attempted, numerous times. To me (and I imagine most) the “&” indicates that both buttons should be pressed together so I didn’t really even think about it. I spent 5 minutes or so doing different combinations. Press both briefly and simultaneously, press and hold 0, then press *, vise versa, etc. As it turns out you press 0 THEN * and it works fine.

Nice strong safe easily programed i like the light in it…as for the biometric scanner ,do not rely on it it opens fine when it wants to after 3-4times using the same finger it might open or use a differant finger n it might work the first time..this could be operater error but if i needed to get in in a emergency i would be in trouble and forget about it being quiet its kind of loud when it opens and if it doesnt like your print

Great little safe…..I just love these safes…. and after looking around at numerous different brands, I always came back to Viking’s safes as being the best value for the money… and also because of the quality of their build. Having 3 options to open them is a great feature. And because there is a key option, you won’t ever get locked out of it, if the electronics ever fail. Being 64, I figured the fingerprint reader probably wouldn’t work for me… but happily it did! I used my middle finger because my thumbs and index fingers always get cut, nicked, etc. working around the house. Sadly, it didn’t work for my girlfriend, but it worked both for me, and my son.The keys are 4-sided, and very robust… not the kind of lock just anyone could pick, maybe only a locksmith could do it. Keypad works well… and a very nice feature is the LED light inside, which comes on when the door opens.They’ve generously supplied some hardware to anchor the safe to the floor or wall, but the idea didn’t really appeal to me. You would either have to bolt it to the floor (which is not convenient) or to a wall stud which would not work very well. The small size would allow only 1 fastening point, since studs are 16″ apart. My idea was to use some 3/16″ steel aircraft cable, with a small loop on one end of the cable, feed the cable through the inside back hole, until the loop stops it. I made the cable 12′ long. Then I drilled a 1/4″ hole through my bedroom floor, behind the middle of my low dresser, through the carpet molding at the baseboard. That way, you can still take the molding off when you get new carpeting and locate the safe to anywhere on the dresser. I fed the cable into the basement, and secured the end of the cable (near the hole), in a circular fashion, using common cable/wire staples to the 2×10’s holding the floor up, after bending the cable in a circle, and nailing the staples over the cable in all the curves. No thief is going to spend that much time trying to either cut the 3/16″ cable, or pull out 8, 10, or 15 wire staples (your choice) on the basement ceiling.I happen to have a big, cable-crimping tool myself, and had to decide which sized wire would work for this securing problem. The next size down was 1/8″ cable, and there was no doubt in my mind as to which cable was the right choice. The 3/16″ cable looks massive next to the 1/8″ cable (as shown in the pictures) even though it’s only 50% larger. I have some good cable cutting nippers that cut the small stuff in a snap, whereas they couldn’t cut the 3/16″ stuff….. even my 18″ long bolt cutters couldn’t cut the bigger cable. I had to use a hammer and cold chisel, to actually cut the stuff…. Because of the stiffness of the wire, I found that the loop may turn (inside the safe) and cause the shelf to lift. It’s not a big deal to just adjust the cable a bit to cure that, but I will make my girlfriend’s safe just a bit different…. rather than making a loop, I made hers with a simple cable stop. These cannot be pulled off by any normal human, but for a bit more “extra” security I put 2 on, instead of one.These safes are well worth the money, and their representative Monica was very gracious… she answered all the questions I asked, and even had the boxes opened and quality checked, per my request, before shipment to me. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase. I actually bought 3 of them… and everyone loves them.Hope you enjoyed my review.

Since I can’t contact seller, I guess I’ll just write a review. My safe came today and it seems it missed the build check. The LED light that is supposed to come with it is not even there, the shelf is wobbly and uneven, and the felt lining has a few extra cuts that someone didn’t get right the first time. Haven’t even tried out the fingerprint scanner yet and already very disappointed. Will probably return unless contacted very quickly.Update,Got ahold of the manufacturer and they took care of the issues quickly. Very genuine and nice. Safe and light work excellent. Thank you.

Great purchase! It works well and even cooperates with my 59 year old female fingerprints! The interior light is a bonus and really makes a huge difference. The most difficult part of the set up was opening the battery compartment for the light! Programming the numeric code and fingerprints was a breeze. This is a excellent little gun safe, perfect for keeping my hand gun safely tucked away. Now I don’t have to worry that my grandkids or any one else fir that matter will be able to get access to my gun when they are here visiting. The biometric scanner works every time. The scanner is the reason I chose this safe. My brother has one thats very similar and I was impressed at how easily the scanner worked. You can program in many sets of prints, 25 I think. So I’ve programed in mine and my husbands. The set up and programing was easy. I feel confident now that I’ll be able to get at my gun quickly and easily if need be. The safe is small enough that I can take it with me in the car when I’m traveling.

I’ve had this safe for about two months now, and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. Works perfectly every time, and keeps out the little ones. It holds two hand guns nicely, with just enough room for a box of ammo too.I’m not quite sure why I see the occasional poor review for it, maybe they just had trouble with the initial setup. Which does take a few minutes, but once you’ve got everything set, its the perfect little safe. Highly recommend.

Not perfect but better than most. Motorized lock means no simple to defeat solenoid. Can fit two small handguns plus one large one although it will be a bit tight.Only real issue, if your finger is not centered and applied with moderate pressure, sometimes the display will read it finds a print and the motor will start, but then it stops halfway and you will need to let it clear and reset before you can try your finger again. This has happened despite registering 10 plus different prints of the same finger in different positions and different pressures. I thought it was a freak occurrence, reset to default to try again and still had the same issue if my finger wasn’t close to center on the pad.I cut a 2×4 and 2×6 to match the size of the back of the safe and then bolted them to stud and with an anchor. Then I bolted the safe to the 2×4 and 2×6. This was necessary because I could not line up the holes in the back of the safe to the stud due to the shelves in my closet. This greatly increased the security of the safe and also helped take some weight off the shelf it was sitting on as the wall studs were supporting some of the weight.

UPDATE: I have now had this safe for 2 years and it is still functioning 100%. I have had to change the batteries once, with no issues.This is my first biometric gun safe so I can’t compare it to anything besides what I have seen on display at stores.Having said that, I will say that I am happy with this safe. It seems very well-made, very solid and so far reliable.The biometric reads my finger print first time every time.The only issue I have is minor, the keypad should be backlit and as I have seen on other reviews, there should be a seperatebutton that will activate the finger scanner.Overall nice safe with plenty of room for glock 32 and 3 clips with room to spare.

Was vary happy with product. NIcely made and simple to set up. Can bolt it down or on a wall and the light is efficient. The set up was easy. Just remember to leave key in while putting first thumb print into system. Put my spring field dx in there and it fits perfect with plenty of space. Feels nice to know my gun is locked up safely and can be retrieved with in seconds.

This was purchased as a gift. I did a lot of research and shopping for a print – biometric before selecting this model. I was not disappointed. This safe is very well-made, roomy for more than one firearm and opens quickly which was my main concern. It was also one of the best buys for the money, in my opinion. He also loves the fact that there is more than 1 way into the safe as well the hidden key lock that is under the brand plate. Other options that he said he really likes, the quality that it is (robust), the interioir light, and the 2 shelves. . He originally asked for a ~$70 biometric safe from Wal-Mart for Christmas, but the reviews were great on this one for the price so I splurged the extra money and I am soooo glad I did. I really love this safe. Read reviews on a different brand that was a bit cheaper. Compared the reviews and realized this one has no space in between the door and wall so it’s virtually impossible to pry open. It also has a shelf and a light.
